The Radio's were checked out by department and then by name. All people had to do when checking in a radio was look for their name. Simple as pie, or so I thought. People should have been able to find their own names, they were the ones writing them down in the first place. We tried to make the radios as simple as possible. Not sure why it got so screwed up. Every radio was checked out in the book first and then added to the computer after. Larthan and I took care of that. If the procedure was not followed after 6pm on Thursday, can't help with that.
As for radio's left in the Hyatt, not sure who would have left it, but hopefully they signed it out in the book and we can find out to whom it went. _________________ Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality.

The radios got screwed up for several reasons:
1. There was little to no training on the system ahead of time. Kismet trained Larthan, then left her in charge. Larthan trained me, then left me in charge. I trained Yarn Girl, then left her in charge.
2. By the time we actually got the entire book transcribed into the spreadsheet it was already inaccurate. There were numerous instances of the following:
- Radio number recorded incorrectly
- Radio checked out multiple times without being checked in
- Pages not in any sort of chronological or numerical order
- Radio number not recorded at all
3. There wasn't someone to check-in, check-out, maintain, and charge radios 24/7. Larthan, Yarn Girl, and I tried to cover it as much as possible, but the three of us couldn't do it on our own.
4. When no one was at the table, radios were picked up and dropped off without being properly recorded. (Scribbled sticky notes doesn't count.)
5. The radios assigned to the departments weren't necessarily the radios that they took. For example, several radios were checked out to Security and a TechOps staff member at the same time.
6. Several people checked out one radio and returned an entirely different radio assigned to another department or person, or not checked out to anyone.
Look, I'm sorry if equipment wasn't properly recorded. Everyone who worked with the radios did the best we could given the situation. We can learn from what happened this year and do a better job next year.
I know everyone has the best intentions, but since none of you were sitting on the floor of 219 surrounded by piles of radios at 7:00pm while most people are heading home or to Dead Dog, I don't think you have a full understanding of just how stressful the final waves of radio returns were and how easy it was to miss something. |

I think this was one of the biggest problems. Either there needs to be someone stationed at the radios at all time or there needs to be a rule that no one but X, Y, and Z touch the radios and if you're not them you do not touch.
There were several times when we had tons of people in Ops and there was no way I could run the big radio and keep an eye on the what was going on with radios. We did the best we could but when people do as they please it's hard to keep track of things you don't know about. |

| Due to the dilligence of the radio crew, a dilligence that must be refined next year. there are NO missing radios from Dragoncon. Due to their explicit records, we found the one missing radio, called the guy at home and he had it...Captain Howdy. Although there is room for improvement, you gals did an great job. |
