An IMPORTANT announcement regarding techops.net
Howdy, fellow pirates - Please read through this entire message carefully, as what’s said here affects every single one of us. There will be time for questions at the end. For years, we’ve been sharing a single login for the private staff area of techops.net. This just isn’t smart. Using it the way we did caused numerous security problems and well, we’re getting too good for that. So what we’re moving to as of today is an individual login system that’s connected to our message board. (Remember when we asked you to make sure your board name was the same as your badge name? Yeah, this is one of the reasons why.) Basically, all this means is that in order to access protected areas of the site, you’ll need to log in to your individual account instead of using the old login. Nothing else has changed. So, here’s the interactive part: read the section below that applies to you and we’ll all gather up for a quiz at the end. Sound good? I already have a username on the board Great! What we’ve done is link your board account with your info in the staff database, so you shouldn’t have to do anything different in order to access the site. Just log in first. I have a username on the board, but it’s not letting me log in! 1.) Your password is incorrect — see below on how to reset it. 2.) To keep our heads from exploding, we have changed a few of your board usernames to match your badge names in the staff database. If you’re not sure of how it’s stored in the database, find yourself here: I have a username on the board, but I don’t remember my password! Since your password is encrypted when you choose it, we cannot recover your password for you. But you can get a new password here: http://techops.net/board/profile.php?mode=sendpassword (There’s also a forgotten password link on every page of techops.net until you log in.) I DON’T have a username on the board yet Well, you do now. If you have not previously registered for an account on the board, we have created a new one for you with the following format: username: badge name I’m trying to log in to techops.net/private and it says something about ‘insufficient privileges’. Huh? If you’re seeing this message, it means that you’re not recognized as a member of tech staff proper. Check to make sure you’re listed here: If you’re not there, you won’t be able to get in to any private sections of the site. If this is incorrect, please let me know. But I wanna use the old login and password! Life’s hard. Everything will be okay, we promise.
