Announcements
Ladies and Gentlemen … and TechOps Staffers … Welcome to another season of DragonCon Technical Operations. I am your host, Brian Richardson. Let’s get this season of mayhem underway with a few announcements. I have to announce a small changing of the guard. Thomas (a.k.a. Papa Smurf) isn’t going to be available for DragonCon this year. When he made plans to join the Navy weeks ago, Bill had to pick a new director. The choice was agonizing, requiring him to use all of his wisdom, talent and leadership skills. When all of those things failed him, he chose me. So I, Brian Richardson, will be TechOps director this year. For those of you that have forgotten me, I’m the guy that looks like David Spade. I’m generally responsible for general troubleshooting/firefighting, but I have been doing a lot of video work for DC the last few years (yes, I’m the guy that has to try and keep Anthony Daniels in frame as he prances through the Masquerade audience). Although I have been working tech staff for many years, I am new to this whole “running the show” thing. My goal is not to be a taskmaster, but to make sure the staff can do the same kickass job they did in 2001. I’m sort of a TechOps cruise director, making sure your stay on the Lido Deck is as sun filled as possible (in otherwords, I’ll keep directors and guests out of your hair). This also means that I’ll have to have some form of organizational meetings with staffers. This translates into an excuse for some party-like activities at my house, including drinking and the mockery of bad sci-fi movies. Details to follow. Please plan on attending the next two staff meetings at the Hyatt. The dates are on the “What’s New” section of {{link http://www.dragoncon.org/}}. Good luck and may the schwartz be with you. {{link http://www.siliconchef.com/ Brian Richardson - siliconchef.com}} Posted by Mr. Spade / March 31, 2002 @ 11:36 pm
