In Memoriam: Phil "Grape Bitch/Ink Pad" Searfoss
Hurting puppies…

no, not the canine kind…

Brian and I have returned from the madness known as Karate College. Four days of intensive training with some of the best martial artists in the world. Joe Lewis, Bill Wallace, Renzo Gracie, Gary Miles, Master Dr. Maung Gyi, Michael DePasquale Jr., to name a few… all top names in their respective styles…and we got to take classes from them!!! I discovered something called “Shoot fighting.” I can only describe it as Greco-Roman wrestling meets Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. Lots of fun learning how to knock people off their feet! Renzo Gracie turned out to be one of the most patient and kind teachers there, didn’t mind helping even rank beginners work through the problems they were having. Despite being in a 1-hour class of over 30, he took the time to work with everyone on the mat at least once and didn’t leave until that person understood the moves thoroughly.

Can you tell I’m a little psyched? Can’t wait ’till next year.

Needless to say, our anatomies are feeling a bit rearranged at the moment. We’ll take next weekend to recover our faculties and will plan on doing the barn the last weekend in July.
